Why Pokemon Are Not Scary

Pokemon is, fundamentally, a game produced by Nintendo that is populer among boys and teenage boys (mostly) all over the world. For them, much of the 'spin-off' trade of the Pokemon phenomena the plush dolls, the Pokemon figures, the Zuken figures is quaint but not particular relevant to their main quest, which is to win the game by becoming a champion. For gamers, the interest and concentration lies in a totally different part of the psyche than it does to a young fan. Their concentration is on strategy and technique visavis a computer interface, not on the kekhasan of the characters themselves. There is a whole different group of aficionados though who love the Pokemon themselves and probably wish nothing more than that the Pokemon were actually real, much in the way I wished dinosaurs were real when I was a boy. These are the kids that go crazy over the Pokemon animation and manga, not the gamers. These kids like to immerse themselves into the mythological fantasy of a

Anime in Japan

While animation has a legacy in the United States, it's also increasingly popular throughout the world, most notably in Japan. In animation school, many students have been greatly influenced by Japanese animation, also known as Anime. Since the early 1900s, Anime has served as an influence on many American animators and filmmakers. There are many different styles of anime in Japan, yet it was relatively unknown in the US until the 1960s when programs such as Speed Racer were broadcast on American TV. There are many different styles of anime, including Mecha which was more science fiction based and had a tendency to use robots in a futuristic setting, Manga, which is primarily print based and Hentai, which is generally pornographic in nature. Before the internet and the immediate availability of sites like You Tube, many anime were shown on television. Years before I went to animation school, I remember seeing a children's show called Kimba the White Lion, which dealt

Is Watching Anime a Sin ?

A teenager once asked, "Is anime a sin? 'Cause I'm trying to love God more. I know war is a sin, but what if you're going for the good guys. Or what if it's just a regular anime?" Here's my point. Literally, watching anime is not a sin. Yeah, right. In fact, I'm writing a book about it wherein I discuss the matter more specifically. Watching anime is just like you're watching an indie film, or Discovery Channel, wherein you acquire some information and at the same time you are being entertained. If I'm going to directly answer the question "Is watching anime a sin?" then the answer is no. However, there are many things to consider when it comes to anime. There are several "but's" about this matter. In a more literal sense, anime itself is not a sin but the way you handle your emotion while watching anime is another thing. That is just one of the many cases. Because there are many. People, especially teenagers, wh

Superman Fights Dragonball Z Goku ?

In anticipation of the upcoming Superman: Man of Steel movie slated to open in theaters this summer, some serious fans of the Kryptonian demigod made a very interesting video take on Superman vs. the mighty Saiyan from the DragonBall Z franchise, Goku. The main thing that stands against Goku in a battle with the Man of Steel is durability. Goku has to constantly train to enhance his body enough to undergo further rigors this spells almost automatic doom against a being of Superman's literally otherworldly power. KalEl's physical attacks are as devastating as it gets; the only saving grace is the fact he rarely tries to kill. But since Goku wants to wait until his opponents are at full power, and seeks to goad them into unleashing it, he runs the risk of facing the Superman that made mincemeat of Darkseid and bested a reborn Doomsday. Another problem, of course, is the alien from Krypton's own ability to take punishment. If this battle occurs in the daytime, then

History of Bleach Series

Bleach is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. Bleach is a 200+ manga series (which evolved into anime series) which follows the adventures of Ichigo Kurosaki. Ichigo becomes a Soul Reaper (Shinigami) which is similar to Grim Reaper in American culture. Ichigo becomes a Soul Reaper when gaining the powers from Rukia Kuchiki. Accepting the task of becoming a Soul Reaper asks that Ichigo defends humans from evil spirits and pushing them into the afterlife. As a Japanese manga, Bleach was collected into 58 volumes. Better known as tankobon voulmes, each book has a poem that discusses the character placed on the cover. In Japan, 500 plus chapters have been released in Japan. In the English versions, chapter names are written in English with katakana above each of them. In Japan, ebooks were released in color in 212 for the Soul Societ arc volumes. Bleach was released into an animated television series by Studio Pierrot for 8 years (20042012). Adult Swim (

Review of Bleach Anime

Having grown up in Japan, its amazing to me still that I did not immerse myself in the manga culture until I left the country. Bleach is what is considered a mainstream "shonen anime" along with Naruto which you probably already have heard of. From what I have heard giving Bleach a try is the best decision I have made. If you want the short answer to what my review is, this show is a good one. The plot of Bleach is pretty easy to grasp in the beginning. Ada Soul Reapers who have the ability to guide souls to the Soul Society which is an afterlife dimension. Reapers not only guide human souls but combat evil spirits to protect everyone. On initial watch, you meet Ichigo the arrogant sarcastic teenage boy (typical character). The first season introduces us to the most important of characters, Rukia and allows us to understand the basic concept of Bleach as we know it. We do not realize until the end the new events that will cause us to go on rescue missions to defend the Sou

Why Do People Watch Anime Movies ?

Different people from different financial backgrounds and age groups are interested in watching anime or Japanese cartoons. Some people go further in this arena and they become hardcore fans of this type of show. But, this type of behavior is quite uncommon, particularly in the Western Culture. When this is the case, some of you might be interested in understanding why people are more enticing towards this type of show:  Many people interested in this kind of show are not hesitant in explaining the difference between animated movies and other cartoons. Even, some of them argue that the term 'cartoons' denote to western cartoons exclusive of animated alternatives under kategori. Fundamentally, animations are a genre of cartoons that is known to have its origin in Japan. The characters and drawing styles under this style are generally compared with those characters from Western nations. This genre of cartoons gained popularity in the country of Japan in 1930s as a means of st

Naruto (The Will Of Fire)

Anyone familiar with the anime/manga series Naruto Shippuden would definitely know of the main characters' undaunted heroism in the quest to end the pain in the lives of those around him and bring peace to not just the hidden leaf village but all surrounding hidden villages and their territories. Uzumaki Naruto's "will of fire" not just leads him to aspire to become the next Hokage of his village, but also inspires all those around him to train harder to become better at protecting the people they love. Naruto Shippuden starting from the first episode; gave off that impression that it was nothing more than a 'watch cause there's nothing better to watch anime'. At the beginning a lot of interesting facts were down played in the anime; like the fact that; Naruto is the child of legend, that the demon fox isn't exactly a bad guy and also the awesome fight scenes present throughout the anime. In turn, the animes' creators opted for a slower yet s

Can Hulk Take on Superman the Man of Steel ?

In light of the two wildly successful movies of late, fans of both major comic franchises have been asking each other and warring on forums across the reaches of cyberspace the only pertinent question when two veritable gods dominate the screen: who would win in a fight? We were privy to the Hulk s awesome power in both the 2003 and the 2008 movies, in which the illimitable wrecking machine decided to smash until he could smash no more. Of course, although the film was successful financially, the reception for the first one was a bit mixed. The 2008 version starring actor Mark Ruffalo as the eponymous antihero was a little more successful financially. The Man of Steel Has Landed  Predictably, when the Superman reboot came to the fore, starring new actor to the franchise Henry Cavill, it absolutely blew the Hulk away at the box office, tripling the Gamma Monster s numbers. So the victory is resoundingly in the Man of Steel s favor on this note; but that still leaves the question of

Attack On Titan

Attack on Titan  Plot / Story  It's been a hundred years since they appeared. The creatures that drove mankind to the brink of extinction. Those monsters that know nothing but killing. We know nothing about them. We don't know why they are here. Our only hope is to pull together. We have to make a stand. Walls. Walls will hold them. I dread the day that we must fall behind walls and hide. Behind the walls is survival, but behind the walls we live like cattle. Behind the walls we are safe from them. Those things who's name we fear... Titans. Not bad, right? Our anime plops us into a world where mankind is nearly hunted to extinction by humanoid monsters known as titans. No one knows where they came from or why they are here, but they are deadly. Even mankind's most skilled fighters are not enough to stop them. The only choice mankind had was to build walls. Towering walls. Mankind joined together in their time of agony, building massive walls to keep out the de

Top 3 Anime Series

#3 Neon Genesis Evangelion   You know how they say you never forget your first time? Well that applies to me with this anime; Neon Genesis Evangelion was the first anime series that I ever really got into. The show had an addicting combination of action, drama, and suspense. I had to keep watching in order to find out what would happen to the characters that I had come to be attached to. The series did a fantastic job at progressing the characters throughout the series, especially through the rough moments. As a viewer, I felt for the main characters as they went through the challenges that the story put them through. If you haven't ever heard of Evangelion, it's a pretty awesome show, though very depressing in the end. The basis is the world is recovering from a global catastrophe known as second impact, and according to sacred documents known as the Dead Sea Scrolls, powerful creatures known as angels are going to be coming to attack. A military organization known a

Anime Recommendations for Anime Fans

Anime is very popular in Asian culture. It has also spread its popularity in other countries such as the United States, parts of Europe and South America. Some of the most popular anime are action and fantasy type anime. I am going to introduce you the most popular ones at this moment. 1# Naruto Shippudden  This anime is still on going as the time of writing, but I believe it is about to get to the end stages. This anime is about the story of a young boy named Naruto, who was looked down upon because he was sealed with the ninetails demon fox that destroyed the Konoha village. He grew up trying to win approval from his village. One day, he vows to become the Hokage of the village and gain respect from his peers. Fast forward, we have Naruto Shippudden, where he is all grown up and ready to tackle the most powerful enemy in the series, Uchuha Madara. As much as I love this anime, the only complain I have is the amount of fillers. Other than that, it is a great anime full of coo

Cosplay Costumes - Overview and Meaning

Cosplay costumes are a common way of dressing in most of the countries today. This word is derived from the two English words, costume and play. This is a style where people adorn the costumes of their favourite characters from various sources and wear matching accessories along with it. This dressing style originated in Japan. People drew inspiration from characters in cartoon, comedy, scifi, comedy, films, books, video games, anime and manga series that were hugely popular in Japan. Let us look at some of the concepts around this kind of dressing.  Why do people resort to cosplay style of dressing?   Almost anyone can dress up in cosplay costumes, as there are no genderspecific restrictions here. This is probably one of the main reasons as to why this style of dressing is quite famous among people in most of the countries today.
